Kangaroos don’t get midlife crises.
They do not wonder,
what happens after death.
Nor do they question
if they are applying themselves
to their full potential,
or worry,
about ten-year mortgage interest rates.
These thoughts
never cross their minds,
as they prepare
for nature’s version of Fight Night.
Sheila and Joey
cheer on the sidelines.
Koalas always bring good snacks.
A Tasmanian devil signals the round,
a eucalyptus tree places its bet.
A Royal Rumble down under.
I would like to be a kangaroo.
No need for shopping bags,
just an extra-large fanny pack
to hold my dreams.
